Electronic Component Market News – Week 3 of September
Memory Chips
1. The crowding-out effect of HBM continues; DRAM and NAND supplies are tightening. CXMT’s HBM yield stands at only 25%.
2. Longsys has been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
3. Domestic AI chips including Huawei Ascend 950DT and Cambricon 690 have seen price increases of 20%–50% due to rising HBM cost pressure.
4. News dated Sep 7: Jincun Technology released an LPDDR5X LPCAMM2 memory module with a single-module capacity of 96GB and a transfer rate up to 9600MT/s.
5. Samsung allocates more than half of its 4nm capacity to HBM4 base dies.
Passive Components
1. Murata Manufacturing officially announced a product rationalization program. It plans to discontinue selected consumer-grade and general automotive part numbers. Customers are required to confirm by the end of 2027, and orders will no longer be accepted after the end of March 2028. Production capacity will be shifted toward high-value high-capacity MLCC for servers and automotive applications.
2. Murata issued formal EOL (End-of-Life) notices on Sep 10 for 9 series: GRM / GRJ / GRT / GXM / GXT / GCM / GCJ / GCG / ZRA. Low-margin mature components are phased out, and full capacity will be directed to high-capacity MLCC for AI servers.
Timeline:
Customer confirmation by Dec 31, 2027 → Last time buy (LTB) order cutoff by Mar 31, 2028 → Final shipment by Mar 31, 2029. Once placed, orders are generally non-cancellable and non-returnable.
3. Fenghua, Sanhuan, Yageo and Walsin are receiving transferred orders from Murata. Qualification validation for domestic high-end high-capacity MLCC is accelerating. Supply of general consumer MLCC remains sufficient with moderate pricing.
4. For automotive high-current inductors from overseas manufacturers (TDK, Würth, Taiyo Yuden), lead times are 30–40 weeks. Some models operate under quota allocation and new orders are suspended.
Other Updates
1. Per a report by National Business Daily on Sep 11, 2026, Sungrow Power Supply, a leading manufacturer of photovoltaic inverters, released a price adjustment notice. Its solar and energy storage products will see a 5%–15% price increase effective Sep 20.
